Guitar Tuning question (First Guitar)?!

Question: Hello i recently got a squire strat pack and it is my first guitar. Im a newbie to guitars. anyway i have a chromatic tuner and tuned it standard way (e A D G B E ) .
but i know theres something wrong with the way i tuned it.
I copied down all the notes in each fret and string with my tuner

Open E A D G B E
1st F B* E* A* C F
2nd G* B E A D* G*
3rd G C F B* D G
4th A* D* G* B E* A*
5th A D G C E A
6th B* E* A* D* F B*
7th B E A D G* B
8th C F B* E* G C
9th D* G* B E A* D*
10th D G C F A D
11th E* A* D* G* B* E*
12th E A D G B E
(repeats)
* = sharp

it doesnt match up with some of the beginner guides im reading online, some match and some dont, for example, the 1st fret on A string should be A Sharp, but its B sharp.

please help

It is not physically possible to have those notes on a guitar in the order that you have them listed. As Dan mentioned above all the notes you have marked with an asterisk are actually flat notes on the guitar - not sharp.

My guess is that you either misunderstood the reading on your tuner or that your tuner displays flats as sharps.

Hope this helps,

well just turn the knobby thing with the tuner untill it matches the note you wrote down

are you sure it's not giving you B flat? some tuners will give sharps for certain notes, while other notes will show flats. a B flat is the same as an A sharp

Your harmonics are not set. Ive never looked on the internet to see if they show you how to set the harmonics on the guitar. To set them you need to set the screws on the bridge so the string will stay in tune on any note on the fretboard when you are in tune in the open possision. One way to check it is to start on the E string in the open pos., get it in tune then check the harmonic on the 12th fret of that string and see if it is also in tune. If not you need to turn the screw on the bridge until both the open and the harmonic are in tune. Repeat for each string until all the strings are in tune. There is a more in depth way of doing it but for a beginner that should be enough to get you started.

you have to keep tuning it for a couple days. if the strings are fresh theyll go out of tune. also, on inexpensive guitars, the frets can be fractions off. my first guitar would tune fine in open position, but the further i moved up the neck, the more out of tune stuff would get. so my open E was in tune but the octave above on the same string (12th fret) would be off.

if youre using a tuner, make sure you are plugging into it instead of playing out loud and letting the mic catch it. you have a better chance of nailing it. also when you get better at the guitar and are able to hit harmonics, youll learn a neat way to tune without a tuner.

the first year is the hardest for playing the guitar. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!

How ya doin, first off where you have sharps, they should be flats. For example, 6th string 2nd fret is a F# or G flat same thing. 4th fret is a G# or A flat. All of your sharps should be flats. Maybe that's some help for ya. It should read *=flat, then your notes would be correct. Dan
