I'd say Randy Rhoads and Jerry Cantrell (both guitarists)
Van Halen is right at the top of the list.
The all-time best bassist was John Entwistle from The Who.
This is all about personal opinion. I could say Dave Baksh and people would argue with me.
But I'll say Alexi Laiho 'cuz I'm not that into metal that much.

and if someone says that Herman Li or Sam Totem is the best, they are just plain stupid, Herman and Sam can't play music worth a flip. They just care about speed. And it sounds like godawful crap.
