Rocker Lovers!!! Why is it that the "true" Rockers hate groups and the!

Question: success? I mean sometimes the music suffers and then a bunch of wannabes join the following ,but u should be happy for your group or a talented group for "makin it" even if it doesnt follow the "non-sellout" status. I love music and most does seem to be the ones played on the radio, but I eventually buy the CD and then love the non popular ones!. Music is life! and im happy they made it. I would be mad if my job didnt "promote me" ..thanks and not trying to rip U true music lovers. Just wondering.:)

edit..I put this first in Society and Sub cultures by mistake lol:)

I get what you are saying! have you notices that people constantly ask about unknown bands? I think that is part of it. Sell out and poser are two words used way too much here, IMO. I believe you can achieve popularity and not sell out.

Boy, I sure love the generalize..

wat

I do not like groups that are popular because you constantly hear the songs on the radio, and the "wanna be" rockers only like them because they are in the top 40. I would still enjoy the music, but not as much.

I think it's the desire to been seen as "different." Ever since rock music started, it was about rebellion, and anarchy, so if a band you really like suddenly gets played ALL the time on the radio, and gets massive with all types of people, the fans that considered themselves "true individuals" etc get wound up.

It's quite a childish thing to do really, but it seems extremely common!

Because people feel a sense of belonging when they are the first to know about a band.

I felt this way about Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" once everyone decided to love it after it appeared on guitar hero.

It's stupid how we feel this way.

the radio plays what people want to hear. ino its sad that good bands somewhere down the line make the choice to change there style just to be famous.

ir ur style is unique and u practice wut u preach then i think you would make it in the music world. that is of course, if your good.

Honestly, most of those "true" rockers just think that a band is cool because they can name drop them with lines like "I used to listen to *insert band here* before they sold out, they were good back then!", just to sound like music snobs.

Myself, I just can't get into a lot of the music on the radio these days, it just sounds the same to me.

Listen to college radio if you get a chance, some of the bands I've heard listening to college stations have made it big with some proper exposure, and it all started with a demo tape sent into a college office. It's always good to see them make it big, as long as they can still make their own sound, instead of what a record company tells them to play.

When you know of a great group before they get popular your part of something unique. When everybody knows about them you're not. Kinda like how Tattoos used to signafy you were some sort of bad ***, misfit or outcast. Now every soccer mom has tribal butterfly trampstamp.

I rather be part of a sub culture than the mainstream anyday. Problem is corporate america has found out tht there are $$$$ to be made exploiting it. .

Hey Dave. Just as long as they don't prostitute themselves and let what they were doing it for in the first place take a back seat-"THE MUSIC"; ala VH & KISS,then I'm all for the fame etc.
I don't think ANY Rocker hates a band once they reach the stars...
