Your own statement has just summed up why mainstream hip hop has gone down the toilet. Soulja Boy has no talent, has cashed in on hip hop's good name and bent over for the suits at his record company with no integrity whatsoever all in order to make a quick buck. And you think he should get respect because he's got rich off that?
That mentality needs to stop - like, oh, it doesn't matter what they do you have to respect them cos they're rich. Er.. no, I don't. Plenty of people have made money in questionable ways and the fact they have a big bank account has got NOTHING to do with whether or not they deserve respect.
People really need to stop thinking that making money is the be all and end all - it's not like you can take it with you when you're gone. And then what will you be remembered for?

take a look at so called rock bands like Fall out boy, they make really basic, stupid music, with dumb, catchy lyrics, crap guitar playing, and you cant even understand them. but somehow, people think they are good. so they get paid. for whatever reason, america is in this rap-hip-hop phase. any new rapper is "cool" and the will listen to it. they are following a stupid trend.

It doesn't matter what age he is if it sucks. Good for him that he is a millionaire, now he can retire. It is a shame that to make a hit song these days all you need to do is have a repetitive hook and possibly a dance, if you wanna make it really big. If you want to listen to really good rap check out Pharoahe Monch. He's been rapping since the early 1990s, and he is still going strong, but you don't here him on the radio. Soulja Boy is a waste of time. Listen to people like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Brother Ali and Pharoahe Monch. Or if you like Old School rap, Jurassic 5.

personally i dont have anything against soulja boy as a person, but as an artist i do. i just feel the music industry is falling apart because people buy music that all sounds the same with little lyrical effort. sure the beats are what gets everyone into it cuz you can dance to it and it just sounds cool. but crank that is just annoying to me and its what gives hip hop a bad image "jockin on your b**** a**" and "supersoak that "h**"
HOWEVER i have to give the kid credit hes my age and is a millionare. hes an entreprenaur in some ways. but its just i dunno why america keeps buying this crap.

Maybe you haven't known, but he has no creativity whatsoever. His name? Someone already had it and soulja boy was sued. His dance? A mix of a bunch of crappy dances and he slapped his name on it just to make him and the dance "popular". Besides, it looks stupid. Money doesn't compensate for skills.
