Def Leppard was riding high on a skyrocketing career in rock / metal, with their multi-platinum album, Pyromania. Then on New Year's Eve 1984, drummer Rick Allen loses his high-speed car, is ejected out and lands with his left arm completely severed--a life long tragic injury that spells doom for most drummers, as one would think.
But Allen had gumption, spirit, guts--and plenty of support from Def Leppard to face hardships and challenges head on--a painful 2 and a half journey.....to once again become Def Leppard's drummer.
The band enjoyed hard earned tour and recording studio success--and earned immense respect from Leppard fans by teaching us the value of loyality and inspiration to overcome life's challenges.

i think he was on drugs or alocohol and driving along v speedily, swerved and... the rest is history (but not in a bad way!) doctors tried to "put it back on" but it got infected so they had to take it off again, but thats where the brill new drums came in, yay for technology!
