Punk rockers?!

Question: does anyone really remember when the real punk rock bands couldn't play their own instruments? when being a punk rocker meant that you were actually poking fun at the whole commercial rock establishment? when volume was a way of making up for a lack of musical chops and noone really cared anyway because punk rock was really all about sticking your middle finger up at the whole freakin world? this stuff today aint punk rock.

I agree. Remember when Punk actually ment something?

Now if you shop at Hot Topic, dye your hair blue, or get multiple piercings your punk. The Sex Pistols? The Ramones? Nope, you don't need to listen to real punk music these days! Turn MTV up loud and wear you MCR T- Shirt and your punk!

i'd say johnny ramone is a pretty good guitar player...and also the dude from the sex pistols, i dunno what your talking about... but the volume all the way up is just very punk!!!

there are still good punk bands today, you just have to look hard for them. here's one

Yeah like TSOL, Circle Jerks, and Dead Kennedy's. there are still some bands that play real punk rock like NOFX and the casualties.

True that man, i just got done posting a question like that called "Where are my hooligans and rudeboys at?" Punk and Ska are my life and have been, I'm 20 years old and I can't shake the anti-establishment Ramones and Sex Pistols and Black Flag and Stiff Litte Fingers, but today I still try to stay in tune with some Operation Ivy, Rancid, The Unseen, Social Distortion, The Chinkees, Catch 22, The Skoidats, mixing some punk with ska. Punx and Drunx all the way

knowing or not knowing how to play does not make one punk. But I am a fan of TRUE punk (mainly 1980's, although there are some modern punk bands that have the same sound).
