What is "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zep all about?!
Question: Actually, I read an interview about this in Guitar World. They said Jimmy wrote this awesome guitar riff and Plant basically threw it together. It's not a really cryptic well thought out song as everyone generally thinks it is. Plant himself doesn't really know what's going on in the song. Plant liked to reference Tolkien novels and likely wrote the song in that mindset in my opinion.

I always thought it was about some superficial, materialistic broad.
In my opinion, it means whatever you want it to mean. There are so many ways to interpret it, I don't think you can pin it down to one interpretation. That's what makes it so great!

I don't think it really means much of anything. It's just an awesome sounding song. Music doesn't always have to make sense or have some message.
For God's sake............. don't analyse it, just listen in awe and admire!
