Hot Rod Lincoln -- live version?!

Question: About a year or so ago, I heard a live version of "Hot Rod Lincoln" on the radio, and in the middle of the song, the artist (I don't remember the band!) started doing impressions of a bunch of other artists. Like he'd be, "Elvis is driving!" then do a short riff of an Elvis song. He did this with a WHOLE bunch of other artists.

It was the coolest thing ever... has anyone else heard this, know who sings it, or know where I might find it?

Ya he makes all those noises with his guitar right? like sirens, etc. it's by Commander Cody Band - Hot Rod Lincoln. Just look up the Live version if you want the song you speak of.

Billy Kirchen also does a version of this song live.

The version you are referring to is Bill Kirchen. He was the guitarist in Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airman and on their version of the tune, but created the version you are referring to much later.

BIll Kirchen also formed a group called The Twangbangers and they do an extended (9 minutes 28 seconds) version on the album 26 Days on the Road. Also in the group is Red Volkaert, one of Merle Haggard's signature guitarists. The band also does a stompin' version of "Truck Drivin' Man."
