Question: Have you ever avoided giving someone a thumbs up or best answer because of their music taste/avatar?
Say my avatar was one of Gerard Way or The Jonas Borthers and I gave a great answer would you give me a thumbs down? Or not give me a best answer? What if my username was 'Welcome to the Black Parade' or 'I love the Jonas Brothers'?

Personally, I don't think it happens to me. I've received a number of "best answers" and thumbs up in R&P with a country duo in my avatar.
I tend to give people thumbs down not so much based on their taste in music, but rather when they claim to be a big fan of an artist and then CANNOT SPELL THE GROUP'S NAME PROPERLY. (See: Lynyrd Skynyrd or Led Zeppelin in rock, or Dwight Yoakam or George Strait in country.)
I definetely base it on musical taste, when I choose best answer.
I've never done that, but I know that it has been done to me based on my taste in music.
Avatars, usernames, and taste in music don't affect my opinion of someones answer ~ an appropriate answer or one that makes me smile will always get a thumbs-up :)
Many times I will give a best answer to those I don't agree with if they make clear, valid points without getting all up in emotion. The name that someone chooses to use, has no bearing on whether they receive a best answer from me. When I ask a question, I will thumbs up everyone who is polite and when I answer, I do the same.
I think people get more thumbs down when they are a "top contributor". I never got thumbs down until then. I never give people thumbs down, most of the time people get thumbs down based on their opinion, but how can their opinion be wrong? I just ignore the thumbs down and go about my day. =)
I don't care about that. I will judge the answer, not the name.
I don't believe I've ever given best answer to someone who is fan of either band, if I did, I wouldn't know. I base BA on who actually gave me the best answer. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but they never have given me a best answer, therefore they don't get the points. It wouldn't matter to me is what I'm saying.
As for me, I don't know. I think when I first came here, there may have been people who thought I was emo, and I got a lot of thumbs down for it. I'm not emo, my hair just always falls in my face, and I can't stand having it behind my ears. But, other than that, I never really paid attention, I guess.
I have not. My avatar is so generic that the only clue it gives about me is that I am have thick red hair. Unless someone just does not like redheads I couldn't see a TD for my avatar.

nope..because some people have a totally different taste....no one has the same. i'm sure people do that though.
well, I haven't given a thumbs down for it, but I have avoided giving a best answer to someone due to their horrible taste in music. ..... I know, I'm a jerk.
