and while i don't say "northern hip hop" i *DO* occasionally refer to east coast as being from "up north"... i mean, they *REALLY ARE* up north in my case lol, but i understand what you're tryin to say evil.

I call Canadian hip hop northern hip hop and so does everybody else in Canada (I live here) ... maybe thats what they are talking about... did you ever think of that?
There's West Coast, There's the Mid-west, there's the southern hip-hop, but there isnt a northern. Doesnt make sense but definitely true. There is such thing as an east-coast hip-hop, though(NY, DC, etc are considered east-coast hip-hop, while GA, FL, etc are considered southern.)

I always thought Northern Hip-Hop referred to Canada, guys like Sokrates and Kardinal.

get this s* straight; "northern" hip-hop is more a function of where the artists are from in the north than anything else. northeast artists have their thing, midwest their thing and northwest, well i don't know what the h* that is though i do like sir-mix-a-lot.
