Most people know it only by Peggy Lee, and she did come up with the bridge (everybody's...got the fever...). But it was ORIGINALLY recorded by the man who wrote it, Little Willie John. I heard it on the radio last week, and they talked about it being the first recording of it.
off top of my head I know there have been many people to record the song. The earliest versions I heard were from Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald but I know they are not the originators....most recently Michael Buble.
