I'm reading this as "tell me some hip hop songs that contain gritty street tales" so I would recommend listening to Onyx, early Wu-Tang, early Nas, M.O.P., or Black Moon.

you need to rephrase your question... because hip hop IS urban music... urban is basically a "blanket" term for anything that isn't, well... mainstream "white-friendly"... so like... urban is rap, hip hop, RnB, soul, etc... but i think it's moreso the "today" stuff... not so much jazz and older RnB.... blah.
I think you're looking for underground hip hop? I guess stuff that isn't so "mainstream"?
