The Verve. Hands down the most bleak and depressing number up there.
The REM song is supposed to be uplifting, although I personally think it's not so much depressing as boring. I prefer their early stuff anyway (1982-1987).
I only like Radiohead's music, can't stand Thom Yorke's voice.

You guys are all morons for hating "Everybody Hurts" and saying it's depressing. It's one of the most simple and beautiful songs ever written. If you actually listen to the lyrics (and they're not hard to understand), it's an anti-suicide song. "If you think you've had enough, hold on." I don't know any song that has a better message than that.
