What do you think of the hip hop culture right now, is it helping or hurting soc!

Question: well from all of the teen moms, to the fake kids acting like thugs when they aren't, to the expensive designer clothes- dressing in the low pants, to the kids not caring about school and not graduating, getting grillz...to guys treating women like objects...i don't see any good coming out of today's hip hop music...the rappers get rich, as does the record labels, but the whole hood is held back by the cursing/deragatory lyrics said about the women/men...not to mention the negative stereotypes of all blacks being ghetto, loud, weaved, and ignorant...what do you think?

AMEN!! you said it all...It makes people hate, it makes children steal..., it teaches violence on all levels...
Someones needs to clean this up before it's too late.

i think you're generalizing... and askin for racists to come in the spot

i think that parents need to regulate what they let their kids listen to. They also need to do a better job of letting their children know that its just music and not to take it seriously. If the parents are the role models for the children, they dont need a rapper to be. Parents just need to do their job. No1 talks junk about rock music when its sometimes just as misogynistic. No one says anything about country music and its lousy messgaes about cheating woman...

Thats Bullsh!t. I listen to rap music and was a straight A student. Stop blaming the parents and schools faults on hip hop. Parents need to act like parents and talk to their children. If people are not going to show there kids different things in life than thats on them and not hip hop.

You act like black people are the only people that cuss! And I know a lot of white people that are loud and wear weaves to honey. Don't get it twisted.

How are rap lyrics holding people back? People have their own minds and they make there own decision. If you chose to go and sell drugs thats on you. We all know the consequences to that.

Stereotypes were out there way before rap was invented. Stop blaming that sh!t on us.

In other words you fail.

and all of that do not have to do with the hip colcute u dont hear in songs "oh get pregnant when your 13" actually 2pac have a song called brenda got a baby and it put an word out there that you should not do that and girls have their own decisions to be made actually hip hop is something good and bad because alot of hip hop artist have charrities and all of these special groups to help kids grow outta that image BUT NO they do not show that they show THE SHOOTING THE MURDERING
but never theless
hip hop is a good thing
and all people who listen to hip hop as for me
i am not ghetto
have weave
nor pregnant
and im 16 yrs old
im smart
go to one of the ebst schools in my city
gourgeous
doesnt live in the "ghetto"
and i love rock pop all kinds

shut rock n roll have some bad stuff in it too
umm
maryln manson for a excellent example

The way rappers are writing now it's affecting/hurting our society. Due to the fact that the young boys no a days are taking what the rappers say personally and going out shooting and killing people because of the lyrics saying " oh I'm going to kill this person and so on". It's killing mostly black communities and then when something happens like that, people want to blame in on the parents or the family, when really it's the music and sometimes music videos that are on TV. But not all black people are the same way, I'm black and the music really doesn't say BLACK, it's all different race that are killing. We're not just ghetto, loud, weaved, or ignorant. That's how SOME blacks portray themselves, one black person just doesn't represent all black people. Everybody grows up in different homes, raised different. Sometimes you can't really blame it on black people for the way society is today.

i never heard of a song getting a 12 year old girl pregnant.

HERE YALL GO AGAIN WITH THESE SAME QUESTIONS.

*SIGHS*

1) Not all hip hop is negative - in fact, most of it isn't. People who make statements like yours tend to only have heard a few tracks on the radio and made a judgement about an entire genre based on that.

2) If hip hop really is to blame for the ills of society, then by your own "logic", anyone who listens to hip hop and commits a crime should have their sentence overturned on the grounds of diminished responsibility. Sound crazy? Well, if you truly believe that music causes people to act a certain way then that would basically absolve all hip hop fans of responsibility for their actions. Think about it.

3) Music cannot create society, it can only reflect it. You want to solve the problems that occur in poverty stricken areas, then look to the government that created that situation, not the music that reflects it.

You're only creating a scapegoat here - take on racism, inequal distribution of wealth, government corruption and consummerism, then you might solve these problems. The music has nothing to do with it.

I would say it is hurting the rap culture - not the hip hop culture. I believe the hip hop culture is thriving. I feel there has never been a lot of demoralization towards women, derogatory lyrics, low pants, etc etc in hip hop. Granted there is some but I think it is more prevalent in rap. Not all of 2pacs lyrics were morally uplifting but at least he had some respect for women and at least there was a poetic beauty about him. I think you are right on about rap culture. There are so many rap artists out there singing about shoving di**s down women's throats, or referring to women as hos. Lots of talk of drugs and violence. Is this really necessary? Today's rap is a poor excuse for music. Hip hop I feel is more relaxed and laid back and the artists are much more open minded. Hip hop can be funny and cool. Rap is disgusting and sad.

Damn, let's blame hip hop for infertility too while we're at it why don't we? This is a load of crap. It is not HIP HOP's responsibility to raise our children to be well rounded adults....it is ours. Quit blaming hip hop for lazy parenting.

i say this alot but FILMS are worse.

the images and words in a film will have more effect on people then music but films aren't to blame either.

and not all hip/hop is like that.

it is down to age - maturity - common sense.

you buy a album with exsplicit lyrics it does have a parent advisory sticker on as a film has a age restriction on it.

so you can't buy it legaly unless your the correct age so it is down to people.

a parent judges if there child is mature enough to listen to it or if over 18 the person decides there self.

like now i know piracy is a big factor a child can download it without parents knowing or purchase them off people willing to sell to anyone.

there is loads more factors but the list goes on and on.

i think it's good to listen to life exsperiences which hip/hop well most of it is so i will defend it.

and lastly hip/hop did not create swear words or people shooting people etc.

people who love hip/hop understand it and see it is people's life's which is getting put on a album.

It's a cash grab exploiting the need of youth to escape their reality as they perceive it, as is generationally usual. Do I see anything for their hope? Nothing comes to mind. DO I see anything for their enlightenment and wisdom? Nothing comings to mind. Do I see commiseration and rage stoking, much of it comes to mind. Certainly rebel against wrong, but teach right.
