Answers: Mine is Mozart

Beethoven.

Bach

Ravel followed by Rach

Mozart

I prefer the genius of Wagner

Mozart

Me!

Puccini

Bach, im not really into classical but his music is pretty good

Tchaikovsky, without doubt, makes the hair on your neck stand out brilliant?

you cannot just sit there and listen you feel like wanting to conduct his music.

Dvorak, Chopin, Rach, Tchaik, Schumann

They were all great string and piano composers which are my passion!

I have a long LIST of favorite classical composers ... and I like each of them as the 'best example' of that style of classical music, and also the 'age' they lived in. I love Handel (esp. the Messiah as recorded in Dublin on it's 'anniversary' at Easter), Beethoven, Bach (Johann Sebastian, Christian, PDQ), Tschaikovski, Gershwin, Ives, Stravinsky, Grieg, Jimi Hendrix (yes, I know he was a 'rock' guitarist, but his work was 'classically excellent'), Bob Dylan (same as Jimi) ... I just LOVE ALL MUSIC and suggest you 'open your ears' and see if you can't appreciate more music than you 'think' ...

i HATE McBeth. he SUCKS. cavata is the worst song ever.
I really like debussy. and bethoven, i like how he does things in 3s.
I am playing Klaviersonate d-moll. Piano Sonata in d minor.

Great song.

tsi..chik..tzik...beethoven.

Tchaikovsky and Strauss, Jr., I adore Strauss' polkas.

Didn't you notice when posting this question that it has been asked many, many times already? Just about every week, in fact.

Anyway, I don't have a favourite, not when there are 100s of composers and 1000s of wonderful works to enjoy.

"icequeen":

Before I respond to your question proper, I am going to presume to reprimand you.

Your remark to "del_icio" was most unkind; and I think you should apologize. Shame on you.

I agree with him totally; but then too, anyone has the right to ask any question they wish, even though the same question has been posted a thousand times before. Nevertheless, a little courtesy goes along way towards amiable interaction. There is more than enough poisonous social venom, spewed all over on the R & S category.

I think most users of this category, would prefer to try and stay "above the frey".

I for one, would request you with all due respect, to in the future try and constrain yourself.

I, as "del_icio", do not have "a" favorite: I have three, that I'll list. You may think that the three(3) together, make for somewhat strange bed-fellows; if so, I must be guilty then of being "strange".

These 3 are Richard Wagner, Jean Sibelius and the "great" in my humble opinion, Tschaikowsky.

I love the music of each for different reasons; but it would not be appropriate here - since my answer is already overly long - to elucidate further.

Alberich

Bach.

Thats a tough one. Beethoven, Mozart, Brams, & several others that i can't spell right, a couple of Russian composers. Classical music is timless!

Wow! The simple minded audacity of you two blokes pairing up together to ruin this lovely ladies question. How dare both of you. De lio, or what ever, I'll have you know that not every one has all friggin day to surf the questions being asked on here! I, for one, have been one here for over a year now & have never once sween this particular question asked before, not doubting your word, or anything. The whole point is for people to have fun on here! If you don't like the question, then May I be bold enough to suggest that you simply move on to the next question that does suit our particular tastes? & YOU, the BADGE GUY, congratulations for being one of our communities top contributors, I'll bet you ddn't get that for judging others & trying to tell them how they should play the game, now , did ya? The Lady was simply defending her position in having the right to ask her question any way she wants to! She didn't know tha the same question had eer been asked before? It's wrong that she be put on the defensive in the first place! Can't we all just get along & play the game fairly? I lose any dignity I might have felt before with your being a top contributor & all when you go around trying to tell one of my favorite contacts how she should behave!!! That badge doesn't make you any better than her or I or anyone else on the forum!!! Help each other & offer them a hand up! Thatr is impressive! Tearing people down is just bad taste! Two thumbs up for you Ms. ICEQUEEN, your still my #1 !!!!!!!!

Mine STRAUSS.lOVE THE waltzes.

Sir Edward Elgar (1857-1934)

i would say mozart hun also.
for you people who gave rude answers, have some respect, icequeen asked a simple question, and theres no need for the rude answers,SHAME on you that answered abruptly.everyone has a right to ask a question on here without you people giving rude answers...

WELL SAID STAN LEE..XXX

CHOPIN
RAVEL
MOZART

I have to say - at risk of being called a stereotypical Brit (such a thing does not in fact exist) - that my favourite is also Sir Edward Elgar. Not because of his (perhaps) most famous works, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, but because of his Enigma Variations, Sea Pictures and Cello Concerto. All three are sublime in their manipulation of the music to shape the listener's response.

I agree with the others, though, about Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Bach, Bernstein, Brahms and Beethoven. I wouldn't agree with some others that Mozart was way ahead of his time, but I would certainly assert that his style was so elegant and simple that it epitomised the Classical "rebellion" against Baroque ornamentation.
