Are these good string gauges for Drop C tuning?!

Question: 10-13-17-30-42-52

i used to use 11-54 gauge, and it sounded great and no buzzing at all.
how much buzzing/string rattle should i expect with the sizes above (10-52)? on an ibanez iceman

it depends on your neck scale length

24.75" : .52-.10 is fine
25.5": .52-.10 would be a bit tight
26.5" .49 or .48 would be preferable

in general, the longer neck you have, the thinner the strings you can accomodate. If you have a classic neck scale (24.75")
then you will need to go thicker than standard strings (.46-.10) for drop c

also consider buying a regular set of strings and then using juststrings.com to buy singles in the exact gauge you want

11's are bigger than 10's! I would say 10's aren't going to be as good as 11's for Drop C. You'll have to play a little lighter and be careful with your bends. Tune between every song until you have a sense for how well they stay in tune.

Fret buzz is dependent on your set up and where the action is set up on the guitar, not the string size. Stevie Ray Vaughan used 14's... did he have any fret buzz?

You should be fine..I use 9's and I go all the way down to C# (C#,F#,B,E,G#,C#)..drop D only changes the fat "E" string by whole step,so it's not like your totally loosening tension,so you should be fine with the gauge you chose. Worse case you may heave to raise the action only slightly, but more than likely not, fret buzz should not be a factor,if you were going to some crazy thick gauge,it would be.I just love 9's detuned because you can do some big a$$ed bends, and they feel super spongey....Hope this helps,ROCK ON!! In short you should be fine if tuning to Drop D..any lower and action may need to be raised slightly...

buy a pair and try them out...you'll know the first 5 mins of playing if you'll ever buy 'em again!
