Question: I think he means pass the torch to someone of the younger generation or someone with relatively new blood in the game... common, talib are good but they are old rappers , matter of fact common was in the game before jigga or around the same time he entered .. I think I'd go with kanye, Lupe or maybe even someone like T.I (if he doesn't get those15 years) because he one of the most consistent Mc's in the game when it comes to dropping dope albums

i'm not sure who i would call the best right now, let alone jay-z, but i would probably say common or talib kweli because people know of them and they have real talent.

For having a good record label Kanye West (G.O.O.D. Music has a nice roster). But for lyrical skill I'd say Lupe Fiasco (a good pick for someone new to the game who Hov wanted to put on Roc-A-Fella), but due to Lupe retiring this year I'd say Beanie Sigel (even though he's already a legend, he was always overshined by Hova so now he can get his respect).
Common is by far the best in the game right now. But people don't want to give him the respect.

um jay-z isnt the best. but if the torch is going anywhere it's to lupe.
Kanye West because he has a myriad of achievements and has proven himself with considerably good songs like Jesus Walks, Gold Diggers, Diamonds From Sierra Leone, Stronger etc... while Lil Wayne hasn't. And Kanye admires Jay-Z who is his idol and has dedicated songs to him, Big Brother and they have a good relationship.
I would have to go with lupe because to me i think he is the next best story teller to jay-z, and yeah T.I is good to his albums are really good you can actually listen to every song on his cd without skipin to other songs lupe's album is like that too.

does. I agree with T.I too. I know a lot of people don't like him on here but I really think people sleep on that man.
Lil' Wayne has a long, long LONG, fu*king way to go before I give him credit like that.
And I would have Lupe, but the 3 album thing has got me a little suspect on him. I feel like he got in the game to make some money real quick and then get out. Thats sad too because dude has talent.
Passing the torch...I don't know whether you mean the person to dominate the industry, or the next person to become a legend as far as skills go. If it's the first, no doubt that it's Kanye. He's already dominating things enough...he's got 3 pretty good albums, so many Grammys, his own record label, he's on radio/MTV/BET everyday, etc. But if it's skills wise, I have to believe it would be Lupe Fiasco, if he stays away from the 3 album deal. You may disagree, but Lupe is getting more and mor epopular everyday, Jigga loves Lupe, Lupe is one of the better mainstream emcees out there today, and he has so many stans now that soon he may match Kanye.

They say he's the best but my fave rapper happens to be lil wayne he keeps his fans up and listening no matter if it makjes since in some way its still funny or reall. So i think that even tho Jay z is posed to be "best rapper or on top of his game" he should pass it to himnext i got lil wayne going a long way if you ask me
