Why do some people hate rap?!
Question: I personally like rap a lot and other genres too but i don't understand why people "hate it" i mean i can understand if u don't like it but people tend to get carried away and start to call them retards and saying it isn't real music? What do you think about it?

Simply because they are ignorant and think that all rap music is about money, cars, women and killing. They don't bother to listen to real hip hop, or people that rap about real day to day things that go on the ghetto.
coz some songs have no sense at all. the lyrics are not that important. it's just the beat that will make it a nice song.
People said the same thing about Rock n roll. People don't understand it. Some people feel like it isn't music because there aren't always instruments.
because rap mostly revolves around girls and getting money and other things.
they don't understand the culture behind it. they don't understand the struggle. they don't understand what the artists have overcome. they don't realize the freedom of expression that comes with hip hop
I like almost every single kind of music, and I do mean every single kind. Classical to Folk to Rock to Metal. Except I can't stand most rap.
I have nothing against the beats or the actual style in fact I like that. In most cases it's the subject matter. I don't like music that has a cuss word every line or so. I don't like music that glorifies gang violence because I've been trapped in areas with lots of gangs and well, I didn't find it all that hot. I don't like music (or anything really) that objectifies women, because I am one.
I honestly like rap that doesn't involve violence, a bad view of women or a lot of cursing. Which when I ask people who like rap to suggest a few titles for me that fit that criteria, they look at me like I've lost my mind. I know there are titles out there, I would like. Just haven't found them yet.
i don't like most of it, especially any new rap. I think the only reason i like older rap is because i grew up listening to it and it reminds me of good times. I think I hate it because when i hear a rap song, by the time its done I'm always convinced that the person "rapping" is severely mentally retarded. they seem to just say random words that make no sense together over and over again and then yell crap i can't understand. I tend to only like music that i can understand the lyrics too. So rap and death metal are out for me. Also, when i see video's for rap songs I'm always really embarrassed for the people in it. It's like watching someone in a really awkward situation that they can't get out of. Just a bunch of idiots jumping around in expensive cars with expensive clothes and jewelry yelling about sweat dripping down their balls.
Well for one thing, this old lady finds it rather boring. No real tune, not much to say, a bunch of idiots jumping around trying to convince the world of how cool they are.
People like to hate on things. But it really has went down hill, i ever time i turn on the radio most of the time i have to turn it off
Because most of them don't have any talent at all.
Some rap is complete garbage but the real stuff people are afraid of the truth.
honestly i dont respect the current rap of today but the rappers from the past i have much repsect for because i think people including myself dont like rap because it no longer has a good message. everything in rap is usually degrading and about murder or horrible things. so why like it? i dont even think rap catchy or anything its just reciting stupid words in a stupid way. theres no soul in it
people who hate rap are rednecks and inbreds and feel threaten of rappers.

They haven't heard truly good hip hop because it isn't played on the radio.
I can't stand radio rap because I'm a musician and I know there's absolutely no substance or talent in most of it.
some people don't understand that there are artists who put their soul into their music, not "rappers" like soulja boy or 50 cent who only do it for the money. also, it's their way of venting their rage at something. but stereotypes have been everywhere for ever.
