I don't know how to control my vibrato? Tips?!

Question: I would say you could be actually sing with diaphragmatic breathing and still have an out of control vibrato. It is how you project or focus that might have something to do with it. Of course, we all sould use proper diaphragmatic breathing.

Where do you feel the most pressure when you sing? Do you feel tension in the neck or the throat? If you sing a note, does it feel free or tightened? And the best question is, do you feel as if you are over doing the sound or over producing a sound you want verses what is natural in the voice? Many people have wild vibratos because they are pushing the sound way to hard, and there is too much overworking and not enough control inside of the body when singing.

Next time, try this. Do some stretching exercises or some kind of yoga activity for 20 to 30 minutes. Get relaxed, Cut off the TV, put on the most relaxing music you can think of, and do anything to loosen up the body. Now after these 30 minutes go by, sit Indian style, close your eyes, and vocalize using whole notes at the end of each phrase. Remember not to tighten up. Don't think about what you are doing, just sing. I bet you will find if you are totally relaxed a difference in your vibrato.

Once you get out of your own way, your natural vibrato will come and you will be fine. That exercise is a way for you to do that. The more you loosen up, the more control you have. Strange isn't it? But its true and has been true for me since I have made a career out of music. I constantly have to tell myself to get out of my own way to get the performance I want. It will work for you too.

Sure. But you should always involve in some sort of relaxation exercises before singing. Rolling your shoulders, head, neck, touching toes, just for a few minutes to relax the tension out of the body. Good luck to you! Report It

You're in the wrong place, hon.

try not to sing so strong

Your vocals come from breathing through the diaphragm. This is when you breathe, your stomach goes in and your lungs are only used for longer notes. Vibrato is controlled through diaphramatic breathing. This can increase volume, and you need professional guidance to fix this.

Sinuses and nose problems can affect this.

    Good luck!

    practice makes perfect

Flex your butt/ squeeze when you sing! hahaha. I had an opera lady tell me that. Wee disturbing coming from her, but you know what, it was good advice!
