Question: Just curious if anyone knew. I tried mapping from my town to Vegas, and I'm like 400 miles away. Anyone got an idea where they might be starting from?

Considering that the highway would have to be heading directly at Vegas to say that, and considering they started in Cali, I'd say it was a writer's stretchout and there's no sign that says that in the Cali area.
I live in Las Vegas and presumably only Interstate 15 would be long enough and direct enough to advertise Las Vegas from 400 miles out. You'd have to be somewhere around Ogden, UT to get that, and there's plenty of towns in Utah that would get sign billing before Sin City.
LA, Reno, Salt Lake, Phoenix or points in between.
