i suspect it might have started as a way of showing contempt for the 'white establishment' however when you get to calling oneself 'Lethal Bizzle' the only people you are really showing contempt for are yourself and your fans.

Even if they are intelligent, I think part of the whole "act" of being a rap artist is to appear certain ways..even if those ways just make it seem like you've never had an education.

Of course this is just your opinion but if you realize what you are saying this is more of an ignorant question to ask! Who said that they can't spell or that they are ignorant because they choose to have a catchy name or they choose to have a name that seems to fit for them? Only YOU think they are silly, and YOU are the ignorant one! There are so many artist out there that chooses to have a catchy name to get fame. In no way does that mean they are ignorant or that they can't spell! Did you really think about this question before you wasted points? I think you might have to go back to preschool where they start to teach you to get along with others and to be open minded! If you don't like rap/hip hop that is your opinion...don't bash on the music or the artist. It's pointless if you ask me..

There may be many reasons why music artist (NOT just rap artist) choose silly names and it does not automatically make them ignorant. I think it's quite ignorant for asking such a question.
But to all of the racist ( yes racist ) people who commented and made this out to be a thing of race ( i believe one guy used the term "nigs" ) should be ashamed. There are rappers of ALL colors and backgrounds and not all of them are ignorant, infact some of them ( and I stress the word SOME ) have more "insightful" things to say than some politicians.
And to the person who said something about rap being a "virus" and how they should be taken out into the street and be shot ( i mean how harsh is that, I would never wish you to DIE, infact, i wish you would get a LIFE ) and I also pray for you and anyone who has similar views as you, because it is the close-minded, ignorant, and judgemental people like you who TRULY make this world an ugly place for the rest of us ( white and black ) who are trying to chnge this world with an open-mind and RESPECT to others.

do you know there is no correct way to spell a name.
if there is show me a name in a dictionary.
plus most people i know have a made up name am sure you know a few people with a made up name.
but alot of rappers use there own name or something out of there name.
eminem = initials mm
kanye west = real name
asher d = real name
dr dre = short for andre his real name
lil wayne = his name is dwayne
kano = his name is kane
and there will be alot of rappers who had the name since being young so chill out lol and stop listening to girls aloud so much.
