Answers: Before the Joshua Tree Album was when U2 were not over exposed and when Bono was normal before he turned into a I AM THE SAVIOUR OF AFRICA" Ponse!!!!!!!!!!

ive been into u2 since under a blood red sky in 1983 and when the joshua tree came out it really changed the way i thought about and listened to music. lyrically the album has no equal as it was then that i realised not only was bono a singer/songwriter,but a poet as well. for example on running to standstill.
she moves through the street
her eyes painted red
under the black belly of cloud in the rain
in through a storm she brings me
white golden pearls
stolen from the sea
she is raging she is raging
and the storm blows up in her eyes
she will suffer the needle chill
shes running to standstill
this is a song about drug addiction and the desperation it brings! although the joshua tree was probably the album of the 80,s.i feel they have made a huge amount of stronger songs since then. songs that come to mind are.
one
until the end of the world
so cruel
gone
walk on
kite
new york
sometimes you cant make it on your own
city of blinding lights
crumbs from your table to name just a few. i think as with a good wine they have got better with age! as far as bono and africa is concerned i cant understand people who have a problem with his work in the 3rd world! he does actually get his hands dirty and gets things done! before achtung baby u2 were probably the most reclusive band in the world and people seemed to have a problem with that! then came along the fly shades and what people dont get is that bono was actually taking the piss out of himself and the pretence of music in general! what he said about this change is well documented as in "you didnt like me when i was me so i found someone new"the fella just cant win! above all else none of his work on africa has affected his work with u2.only enhanced it.gaining inspiration from his experiences and putting them down on paper! without doubt they have just got better and better as the years have passed by and long may it continue!

i preferred them before they'd made any records

He's always taken himself tooooo seriously. Bono is a twat and the music garbage (in my humble opinion that is!)

I fell in love with Bono and U2 at the Live Aid concert; was it 1986? I subsequently saw them live at Elland Road in Leeds in about 1988 and at Roundhay Park in 1996. I fell out of love with Bono when he started to wear those annoying tinted glasses and pretending he is the second messier

both are shite and bono has always been a c0ck
thanx for the points .... again

I love about anything they've done. There recent works are fantastic, as was Joshua Tree. I do prefer these to anything they did before theJoshua Tree however.

They are one of the few classic bands that remains creatively vital (in my humble opinion)

I don't care as long as their songs are good (for me personally). Time or era is not an issue.

u2 are gay and i wish bono would jump off a cliff.

i wud say before the joshua tree album they were much better .. bono now is just a poser . he thinks that he is some big shot UN ambassador

Before= good music
Ater= Commercialised confused crap but after saying that i still like Vertigo!

before

before it and after it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

U2 r the best band ever!!!!
