BUY.....nuff said seeing as how everyone knows how i feel about him as an artist...
well, I'll BUY, even though the only album I honestly thought was metiochre, was VOLUME 3, which he followed up with BLUEPRINT (which was a banger)... but I liked Kingdom Come, it wasn't his best ever but it wasnt trash at all (Beach Chair, Dig A Hole, Trouble...) it just was a different syle for Jay, just like Blueprint 2 (which I rock out to still)
I think that both album are on the same level. AND as surprised as you can be now, I'd PICK Kingdom Come from these two. It's way more lyrical than american gangster. And the beats are better too (In my opinion). lyrics on A.G. are too dumbed down to my taste. Jay-Z's hustler orientation forced him to do it, and as a good hustler he got success but I'm almost sure that wasn't what he REALLY would like to do. Jay-Z wanted to sell on this one, no to vibe for it.
Sell... Mainly because even though Kingdom Come wasn't great, it wasn't a huge fail. I don't think he suffered from it, his reputation or credibility wasn't questioned any. So he's kind of always been on his ish IMO.
kingdom come was not trash at all... kingdom had complex lyrics and maybe the lyrics were too disciplined for many people. American gangster was the album to sell and get street cred back! no doubt which was also a great album... so yes i agree even tho is never a failure, if he thinks it wasnt good enough he comes back and shines!!!! we can take jayz altime worse album and compare it too any clown that out right now and lyricly jay will kill him!
