Gucci Mane is about as tv rap as it gets. Lil Wayne is too, though he's a deeper artists than fellow hip pop artists. By the way, I do like Lil Wayne I'm just saying I wouldn't consider him too far off from, as you call them, tv rappers. "Fireman", anyone?

Real rap pretty much died with Pac and Biggie. It's always why I think Canibus didn't make it. He comes out 5-10 earlier and he's one of the biggest names out there. Usher in the Solja Boy's and pretty much anything from the South and he's a name you've probably never heard of.

I mean take 50 Cent and examine his transition into pop culture. Start with great, rap albums like "Power of a Dollar" and "Guess Who's Back" and examine the differences of "Massacre" and "Curtis."

Anyways, you can tell real rap is dead (and yes, I realize there's the underground, but for all intents...) the 50/Kanye thing.

1. A great rap artist like 50 Cent makes the transition he did and...
2. An artist like Kanye is considered a rapper and outsells 50.

What's left is not rap, not even hip hop at this state, I wouldn't even call it "hip pop" now that I think about it. What's left is popular culture music.

I don't like neither, I listen to Alternative Hip Hop, like J. Dilla, Little Brother, Lupe Fiasco, but if I had to choose, I would choose Hardcore Rap, cuz TV rap ain't real rap.

pop rap, T.V. rap sucks - underground rap will always be where the best music comes from. theres no assses to kiss and no body sales #'s to hit so it gives them the freedom to rap about what they want.

Hardcore rap.

I like Bone Thugs, DMX, Tupac, some 50 Cent, some Three 6 Mafia.

TV rap just isn't rap. There lyrics are generic and mostly are simple, one syllable rhymes or just don't rhyme at all. Real rap now resides in underground rap. As KRS-One says that "hip means to know, its a form of intelligence/ to be hip is to be update and relevant/ hop is a form of movement/ you can't just observe a hop/ you got to hop up and do it." If you take the 'hip' from hip hop, than you no longer have hip hop. Instead you have hop. Now say hop 10 times as fast as you can... it sounds like pop to you doesn't it?
