death metal
its goooood....

Heavy Metal and Death Metal generally both have thrashy, rapid rhythms and most people associate extreme with speed.

If you don't know what triggers are, listen to something by Through the Eyes of the Dead for an answer to your question.

P.S. - Christian Death Metal tends to have extremely catchy riffs and epic guitars.

Funeral doom. Even most metal fans can't tolerate it for long. Death and black are trendy by comparison.

Death Metal. Black Metal is more to do with atmosphere and lyrics. Technically it is not particularly heavy or extreme although there is a lot of screaming and growling. Check out Mercyful Fate and Katatonia to get a general idea.

Death Metal on the other hand is a searing assault on the ears. Extremely heavy guitars, super charged vocals, double bass drumming, and generally very high tempos. Its pretty obvious that death metal is much more extreme.
Check out Necrophagist, Death for old school death metal. For melodic check out children of bodom and in flames and dark tranquillity.

I agree, Death metal is SICK in a good way XD

Black Metal is more extreme, but I agree with the guy who says Funeral Doom is the most extreme. Listen to Catacombs' "In The Depths of R'yleh" album, heaviest album ever. Hell, it's not even heavy, it's straight up terrifying.
