Can anyone tell me the reason country singer David Allan Coe hates blacks so muc!

Question: I know him by association only. That is, as an active veteran touring (country) musician, I tend to meet a lot of people in the business - some very well, others hardly (or not) at all .

It's not a big deal, really. It's not any different than being, say a journeyman tradesman, and knowing a lot of contractors, electricians, plumbers, and so on.

Having said, that, and not ever spending more than perhaps 10 minutes in a room with Coe (along with another dozen musicians/artists,) I don't pretend to "know his mind."

I have heard that he is somewhat bigoted, but not to the extant that some of his so-called "X-rated" recordings would lead you to believe. The prevailaing story is, is that he simply records a number of these tunes (primarly live) as "blue humor." Kind of like the old Red Foxx party records, or similar unpublished/informal comic routines that Richard Pryor and others used to do.

In short, it's 99% humor for audiences that geta kick out of shock value -and- he's paid a little $$$ to perform. Note that a few of his anti-black tunes a "bootlegs" and were recorded without his knowledge or consent. So, although he may come across like the "Grand Dragon of the KKK," he's really just doing what he's always done - that is, being the controversial outlaw performer that's he's always been.

David's career, with regard to audience demand for mainstream music has eroded to the point where he's become more of a "character" than any serious outlaw "star" that he may ever have been. Last I heard though, he still gets 10-12 "grand" minimum for a show.

A quick call to his agent would confirm price and availability.

He actually claimed in one of his interviews that he was not racists. lol. Beats me why he sang those songs.

he claims hes not but hey i love his music cuz the good lord knows i am, but hey y dose it matter his stuff is funny as hell and he dont just pick on the blacks he picks on the rednec's to so hes picking on me also. lol im an alabama ni**er an i wanna be free hell with the naacp. and hey in that song he dont really diss on the blacks he just relating to em.

does it matter? the songs are funny. I seriously doubt he has sex with his daughter and all that like some of his songs says

he doesn't.....most songs that people think were done by dac were actually done by johnny rebel and got attributed to coe throughout the years. coe actually had a black band member at one time, and a black roommate....saw him in concert, and there was no use of racial slurs....coe himself states he is not a racist.

The songs he sang are not any different then rap songs of today the way the belittle women and so forth. But we surecant claim racist cause its just music go figure
