Answers: porduction-khaled pollow da don
promotion-the ******* shirt at the grammy's and the whack interview

I don't know whether I would be buying or selling with the argument that I'm about to make, but here it is, and after reading everyone else's answer, I tried looking at Nas' actions from a different perspective and this is what I came up with...

I think Nas is upset that the majority of the population no longer remembers him as that poet that came up with Illmatic and One Mic, instead he's remembered by the majority as that "guy that said Hip Hop is dead," and some people may even consider him a one-hit wonder. If this is in fact true (which it is) then Nas has to do something to get back into the public's view that will have him remembered as being something deeper than a hackneyed statement. Basically what I'm saying is Nas wants to be remembered for doing something controversial, ground-breaking, and great, instead of being the one to announce "Hip Hops Death." If I was Nas, then choosing the producers he did were obious choices - it's what radios want, it's want the public wants, it will help sell more units, and the title of the albums has already been spoken for. I guess I would be 'buying' the statement, but he's not in it for the money, but rather the attention.

lately i think he's just trying to draw attention to himself. hip hop is dead. marrying Kelis. the production and promotion you mentioned. naming an album N!gger

Damn nas...... 1st mobb deep sold out to wack azz gay-unit now you with this garbage azz dude.... this is y i dont listen to much hip hop made after 1997

The reason the mainstream is thought of as a stream is because it it's so shallow.

I'm still not exactly sure if its the mainstream or the money, but he's lookin for somethin... and polow da don aint too bad son, he has some pop tendencies but don't ish on him

yo i don't know what the **** yall talkin bout nas is the illest the ****** a legend. the beats? u stupid dem shits is crack, he already roasted jay-z. don't tell me u hova fans still tight about that. who cares about a shirt and a interview real ****** already should know it's about the lyrics when it comes to mceein.

hhhmmm....interesting question...i never thought of it that way...i guess u could buy based on Khaled alone...lol....maybe he is trying to promote his sh*t so that it will sell better as far as the whole shirt to the grammy's thing....idk why everyone is making such a big deal about the damn shirt...it just proves that he is not offended by the word in any aspect IMO....if thats what he wanted to wear to make a statement...who are we to tell him that its wrong simply bcuz the idea of shirt is "taboo"....i think Nas would like a spot in the limelight again...I mean annoying as Khaled is...he has made some hits for ppl...so I'm sure Nas recognizes that...I'm sure he also knows that he is not gonna be making a concsious song over a Khaled beat...so he knows what he is doing....a lot of these rappers talking about not wanting to go mainstream and staying true to the fans and blah blah blah...but i'm sure at the end of the day Nas woulld really be satisfied with a platinum album and a hit song...thats just my opinion....he hasnt always remained out of the mainstream eye (U owe me, Oochie wally) are perfect examples of that

Sell...Nas found his place in mainstream hip hop hop 12 years ago when he dropped It Was Written and never really lost his "place"..he's always been able to make commercial hits and still apply thoughtful lyrics, ie: I Can, One Mic, Got Yourself a gun, etc...the n***** shirt wasn't the only way he's promoting the album, hell; your promoting the album right now
