Hardware Question About Acoustic Guitar?!

Question: I seen a beat up vintage 12 string at a local store. It was made by Fender. I noticed on the inside of the holy, there was a round bar that goes from the bottom of the neck to the bottom of the guitar.

What the heck is that for? I never seen that in any acoustic before.

i think that's truss rod,

and as for the round anomoly, it could be there to strengthen the guitar. 12 strings are under a lot more stress that 6 strings, and can be prone to cracking near where the body meets the neck from tightness of the strings.

i bought a used 12 string and that's exactly what happened to me

good investment, use light gauge strings, and treat it gently. hopefully it will last you a long long time. they sound absolutely amazing Report It

  • Not sure this is correct, but my guitar (which is a Yamaha 6 string) has a place you can tighten the neck of the guitar through the hole below the strings on the front. Could it be that? Hope ya find out. Have a good one!
