For me, Nina has so much strength in her voice. Even when she sings sadly, there is the potential for hope, somewhere in her voice. She seems kinda invincible to me.
With Billie, she is just down right sad, completely, when she sings sad. I don't know much about her life, but I'll bet their was a lot of sadness. Singing sad seems to be very natural for her. I could be wrong.
My answer is Billie Holliday.
