Why do people think that The Verve Pipe and The Verve are the same band?!

A lot of people abbreviate band names; panic, stones, etc. So it's no suprise to me when I see some kid saying, 'Oh have you heard The Freshmen by The Verve?' The Verve is more popular, so many people, when they here someone refer to The Verve Pipe, they assume they're talking about The Verve because they've never heard of The Verve Pipe.
I personally prefer The Verve Pipe.
Because they both have Verve in them?
Maybe it's the similar name? ;)

Because although they suck hard in distinct ways, they both suck hard.
They are the same band. The Verve just dropped the word Pipe after they came out of rehab.
I don't know but being from Grand Rapids Michigan I know they are not the same.
It's because they have incredibly simaller names,
both with "The Verve" in them.
because people are gay and they can't distinguish between 2 bands think kinda have a the same name.
