Heyy if you want alot of Red hot Chili Peppers songs , you should learn The Zephyr Song it revolves around alot of plucking in the verses but still easy.There is also Scar Tissue which is also good.Also to my opinion alot of Beatles songs are great for rhythm guitar and they also have some solos in their songs.Then for great licks,riffs and great solos Guns N Roses,Led Zeppelin,They also have songs that are pretty somple to learn.
I would check out some Dimebag solos. He was an amazing guitarist.
But the best way to hone your skills is by writing your own stuff. Make up some solos. Then you'll feel a lot more accomplished when you can show people, because YOU wrote them.
