Is anyone else disappointed with how shallow music has gotten?!

Question: I cannot see how people can listen to mainstream music today and go crazy about it. I saw this coming a few years ago and bailed. Music has gone so far downhill with songs like "Throw Some D's", "Miss New Booty", "Get Low", "Let's Go", "I.N.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.N.T. and stuff like Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.....give me a break....am I the only one that feels this way? Why do people buy into music that is so shallow, and in a lot of cases(rap), no singing is really done, the lyrics make no sense or are repetitive, and no real instuments are played?

I agree.
I stopped listening to the radio a while ago.
Granted there is still some new good talent out there but the majority of it on the radio and on music channels is crap.
Like I dont wish to hear some egotistical person boasting about how awesome they are and how huge their bank account is amongst other things.

Its getting harder to find awesome new talent so usually Im listening to old stuff.
When Avril Lavigne came out with her whole "I am so Punk" BS I literally listened to the Sex Pistols for the next little while for some reason...
Right now Im hooked on Adam Crossley...I dont know why this guy isnt popular. I love it when the instrumental is classical and the voice is soulful and full of emotion.
Most is crap though some are jewels...agreed lol

Oh and Im sorry about plugging my own question lol but if anyone can help me get Adam Crossley music on my iPod lol (download/buy) I'd really appreciate it:

Thanks.

This singer to me is a jewel and not part of the crap music lol

Thank you! I hate (c)rap. There is no instrumental talent and I love the idea of a band with a lead singer with a great voice, a bassist and drummer who create enough rhythm to make the ground shake and a guitarist who creates jaw- dropping solos.
Instead, we get goodie goodie Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus singing about things they've never experienced and the only instruments are for decoration!
The music industry is shallow though. People listen to an artist until they go out of the charts and then like someone new!
Some of the songs don't even make sense, bad grammar and using a totally unrelated word just because it rhymes!
Sorry, rant over...

Hence why my collection of music is about 90% older (real) music :P

It takes no specialty to do, well, whatever you do with rap (I guess sing). Music has hit an all-time low.

wow i thought i was going crazy....but someone actually is feeling the same way i do.. idk man music is wierd now i mean there is nothing good....its all about bitches, big butts, hoes,, gunshots idk.....i think it could be that the white people are losing their power i mean its been a while that the whites had the upper hand now its finally the colored people to be thier own boss OBAMA!!!! FOR THE WIN!!!!!...........REPRESENT

Are you kidding me, music is at its all time high!

There is a tremendous amount of quality music going about. It's just a matter of finding it. The big labels are all but useless. So look elsewhere -- small labels like Rounder Records, used CD shops (with listening areas), myspace, live shows, other countries, even the public library system.

It's like they're trying to dumb us down. That doesn't mean we have to play their game.

no
