I don't understand what the beginning section and ending section has to do with the spoken poem thing in the middle?
The beginning and end is about not being left behind/being a misfit/hopelessness (at the end).
The middle is about the end of the world.

I think the middle part is like imagery, a sort of metaphor for that feeling of hopelessness and being left behind.
The end of the world would leave you in despair and feeling hopeless.
It could be related to dreams as well. If you do research of the meaning of imagery in dreams, end of the world dreams usually signify a loss of control and a feeling of hopelessness.
