What is the guitar effect?!

Question: if you imagine using like a kill swithc to turn the sound of your guitar on and off, but then it gets faster and faster untill it is one continuous sound and you can also change the pitch. ive heard it in loads of songs. a good example is in psychobilly freakout. can someone tell me what this effect is? i really want to buy it for my guitar

If its the sound I'm thinking of, it would be a Tremolo Effect. (not the trem on the bridge, but an effect as in pedal) As for the pitch changing, that would be the trem on the bridge. From what I've read, the Reverend simulates the tremolo effect with a volume pedal and/or his volume knob on the guitar.

either the step effect or the flanger effect

tremelo
