I think it's to do with Jack's dislike of the media. The way rumors spread and the media invade the private lives of stars. Also, some parts seem to express his desire for a simpler life, without all the drama of being a famous rock star. At least that's my take on it, the interpretation varies from person to person.
I think it just have a nice rhythm. If you really want to know the true meaning you might just have to ask the singer them self.
This song is about possibly Jack White and how the media is driving him mad. Near the end of the song where he says "I'm going to Witchita/I'm gonna work the straw/let the sweat drop from every pore" he's going to live the simpler life that doesn't include the media, even if it means hard labor, but eventually he doesn't like the labor and finds that he has to go back to the music biz.
