Am I the only person that thinks that country has gotten to be a lot of the same!

Question: I haven't listened for a while, it's all starting to sound the same, I have been listening to some classic country, and classic rock.

Answers: I haven't listened for a while, it's all starting to sound the same, I have been listening to some classic country, and classic rock.

You're right, for the most part, but there are still some great music out there.

Check out Gary Allan, especially his cds, Tough All Over and See If I Care

Also, you may like Jason Isbell. He's rock, but offers a southern twist. His album, Sirens of the Ditch, is awesome!

It's not just you. I noticed it too, but it seems like it's been that way for about the last 10 years or so. Now, music has artists that are good in their own way, but no where near country. I doubt if we'll ever have that sound back because of all the technology that makes anyone sound good on a microphone and a disc. The artists don't really seem to have strong vocal talent. It's fixed up in the studio, but if you hear them sing live, they don't sound as good.

It's not just you. Country music along with today's rock music is a lot of pre-manufactered crap being put together by corporate suits to make money. You can thank the American Idols and shows like that for keeping that crap going. It's especially bad in country music where it's more pop than country. All about crossing over. What also doesn't help is all the "rebels" of country music are either old or dead. By "rebels" I mean Bocephus, Merle, Waylon, etc. the ones who told Nashville to stick their formula and put the music out that they wanted to.

Over the past year I've noticed that the majority of country songs have all sounded simular and even the singers sound alike.
I've listened to country since the 50's and all I ca say about todays country is it is very simular to the "Lite pop and Soft Rock" I listened to in the 70's while in the military.
I personnaly listen to classic country fron 60's,70's and early 80's,I've nearly lost intrest in todays country.(Too many singers are "Glamor Shots" made up with a song written just for them.

You are right, I can only listen to the new country about a couple of days per month, otherwise I listen to some older country, classic rock, and Southern Rock.

Best song ever - Freebird

It has been that way since the late '80s. Seems to me that Randy Travis was the last real country singer. Of course, what I mean by real country is songs with a twang and a Hank Williams heartache.

Yes, unfortunately it has. To me it doesn't really sound like true country anymore. One artist who I think really stands out though is Josh Turner. His voice and songs are like those of the true country artists such as Randy Travis and Hank Williams. Other than him, they pretty much all sound the same.
