I'm learning some guitar scales, help?!
Question: Ok, so far I am learning c major and c minor guitar scales.
Am I able to move these scales all along the guitar neck?
Why am I learning these anyway? I am so clueless. Best explanation will get 10 points. Did I mention I love you guys?

yes you can move them up and down the neck they just become a different key but with the same fingering.
why you need to know this? you dont, unless you want to become a lead guitar player and advance your skills. if your happy playing rythum, and that is a very importan part of the music,then dont worry bout scales. otherwise, learn all you can. then learn arpeggios.learn scales other than major/minor.
learn pentetonic and mixalodyn. learn the CAGED system.

Your learning these scales because in time you will use them and variations of them in soloing. This how you learn to become a solo guitar player. It takes time, but eventually you will come up with your own variations to make solos of your own.
you can play a 1 octave scale on only one string but you usually use 3 strings, playing 3 notes on the bottom 2 and 2 notes on the next one - but i depends for the scale - u learn scales to help you improvise solos and understand musical theory try learning pentatonic scales too if you really want to master rock and blues guitar
You need to learn how to relate the frets and notes on your guitar to piano, it will make much more sense to you then. And yes, learning the scale fingerings will enable you to change the key by moving them up and down the neck, just as a pianist would do on piano! You need this and I'm glad to know you have a teacher who's teaching properly! Many don't.
