Happy Friday, James!

The concerts I've been too haven't been too diverse but here they are anyway:

Aersomith and Motley Crue
Ratt and Poison
Tesla
Foreigner, Styx and Def Leppard
Steve Miller Band
Tesla
Queensryche, Alice Cooper and Ronnie James Dio

I seen all those concerts this past summer and am going to another show this up coming Monday to see Tesla, Twisted Sister, Stryper, Winger, Mr. Big and many other bands. Can't wait!!

EDIT: Stevie B - You seen Dokken?? I'm jealous! That must of been one awesome show :)

I have only seen 3 concerts as of now soon to be 4

1. my first concert was a country singer named Craig Morgan, i love him, and I also love country music in general

2. The Oak Ridge Boys... gotta love these guys old school country they rock!

3. Ozzfest 2007 - best concert I have seen out of the 3, Ozzy was absolutely incredible

and soon to be 4. Tesla next Wednesday, we shall see how it is, I am sure it will be great

Edit: James, thanks man I will ;)

Edit 2: Damn Buffster... you went to Woodstock in 69 That is so awesome

1. John Waite - 2005 @ The Destin Seafood Festival (Lou Gramm was also performing, but we left about 4 songs into hs set. That brain tumor really wiped him out.)

2. Bob Dylan - 1996 @ Dothan Civic Center

3. Randy Travis - 1989 @ Ozark Civic Center

4. Stevie Nicks - 1998 @ Oak Mountain Amphitheater

5. Kiss - multiple dates, multiple locations

NP: "Beer for My Horses" - Toby Keith

To my utter shame, I present the following list for your disapproval:

Air Supply in 1981 at the Minnesota State Fair (I did not have my drivers license yet, and the only way to get to the Fair that day was to ride with these 2 girls who had an extra ticket. It was a babe-fest, however)

Neil Young in 1983, also at the Minnesota State Fair (what a difference 2 years makes!)

The Tubes in 1983 in Minneapolis

Alabama in 1985 (State Fair, once again. What was wrong with me?)

Twisted Sister and Dokken in 1985 in St. Paul

Edit: Tesla - Dokken was very good that year (Under Lock and Key tour). George Lynch - not bad on guitar!

Buffster - We are not worthy!

Great question. I could compile quite a list for you - my taste in music is so diverse, it stands to reason my concertgoing habits will follow suit:

1. Dave Matthews Band - pick a show. I've got 27 to choose from.
2. KMFDM - There are 5 shows to choose from.
3. The Eagles - worth every penny. Played for 4 hours
4. Outkast - One of the best live performances I've ever seen.
5. Jesus Jones - Back in the "Right Here, Right Now"/Devil You Know days. Stereo MC's opened. Too fun!

Is that out there enough? I could add more if necessary....

I bet Hornsby was absolutely incredible. I love him.

Happy Friday, James! :)

Like Tesla Girl, I'm afraid my list isn't very diverse. But I'll work with what I've got:

- Neil Young (w/ Soundgarden & Pearl Jam) - Toronto, 1993.
- Soundgarden & NIN (along with a ton of bands including Marilyn Manson) - Barrie, ON, 1994.
- Soul Coughing (with a ton of other bands I can't remember) - Cleveland, 1996 (I think)
- Thermadore (a rock/country combo almost) - Cleveland, 1996 or 97.
- Failure - Cleveland, 1996.

Edit: Hey, Prof! I saw the Reverend at the NIN show...could be one of the best live acts I've ever seen.

Willie Nelson - 1982 - A family event, would have preferred staying home to play some hardcore Colecovision!

Boston - 1986 - I got dragged along reluctantly since I was never a fan of these dudes. Should've stayed home since my friend's car broke down in the parking lot. He made the fatal error of opening the radiator while trying to start the engine and got splattered with hot liquid in the face. All in all a bad night for everyone.

The Pursuit of Happiness - 1994 - Not the Will Smith movie but a most excellent pop outfit out of Canada.

KMFDM - 1998 - This was the Symbols tour, amazing album and even better concert.

Lords of Acid - 2001 - Ah, the eye candy that night was something special.

1. INXS in 1988
2. Firefall in 1991
3. Diamond Rio in 1995
4. Prince in '04
5. The Wailers in 1989

Incubus

Social Distortion (@ Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huck Jam)
The Vandals
Vans Warped Tour.....multiple years
Bloodhound Gang

Hi Everybody.

1. L.A. Philharmonic. Great show, can't remember exactly what they were playing specifically. It was a themed night, but it was several years ago.

2. Kool Keith. It was at Coachella so I'm not sure if it counts, but he was one of the big draws for the weekend. Actually kind of a let down, but I really would like to see him again. I get the feeling he just wasn't in the mood to take it seriously that night.

3. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They are actually local out of Ventura and I caught them a couple times. They put on a really fun show, I found that swing isn't really something that I can sit and listen to at home, but they're a lot of fun live.

4. Paul Simon/Bob Dylan. Amazing show for the history, but Bob Dylan's age was certainly showing even about 8 years ago when the show took place. Don't get me wrong, it was great and Paul Simon particularly was just plain awesome, but as good as Dylan still was it was a little bittersweet. They did a duet of Sound of Silence and Dylan kind of butchered the words and it was all pretty akward. Really glad I saw it though, the Hollywood Bowl was the perfect venue for it.

5. I guess I'll go with the Reverand Horton Heat . I'm sure I've been to stuff that contrasts better, I saw Alice in Chains at Lollapalooza (they were the main draw for me) and I've seen Nard Core bands (which would be the best contrast. Nard Core is really screamy hard punk out) but no one has heard of any of those bands. But the Rev is an act that I went to see on his own and does make a contrast. He was very good for about an hour and a half, but after that I started to get kind of bored (and he played for about 2 1/2 hours). Great hour to an hour and a half though.

*******************
It kind of fits in the middle so I left it out of the list, but I saw Beck right after Odele came out and this question reminded me of how amazing that show was. He's quite the entertainer.

Also, there was a jazz ensemble, but that was a Santa Barbara college band so I didn't really count it and the Dead Man Walking benefit concert I went to that featured Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Ani Defranco, and Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament and the Eastern Indian guys who worked on the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack (their names escape me). A couple other acts too that I can't remember. That was an amazing show, it ended with everyone coming out to do an ensemble rendition of Innocent When You Dream. It was great. I'll never forget the version of Yesterday is Here with just Tom Waits and an acoustic guitar. Amazing.

Hi James. Kool Keith is an underground hip hop act, the Rev is a Rockabilly group and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a swing band. They were the club band at the end of Swingers. They had 15 minutes of minor fame, but faded pretty fast.

Hi Sookie! He was really good. It's one of those things where I like the Rev, but I'm not a huge rockabilly guy and after about an hour and a half all the songs started to blend together. It was pretty awesome though. He demanded that someone in the audience buy him a shot of Jaegermeister saying that he wouldn't play another song until it arrived. Gotta love a bassist who rocks the stand-up too. I'm jealous. I'd love to see NIN someday. I've seen footage and that was awesome.

poison/enuff z nuff- first gig ever; brilliant!

donington monsters of rock 95; metallica headlining, slayer, white zombie, machine head, skid row, therapy?... awseome!

corvus corax, recently... wtf!!!??? http://youtube.com/watch?v=2jrTRgGWcpE

the moldy peaches; hilariously good!- http://youtube.com/watch?v=xVgyccBOpEc

the wailers- minus bob marley of course; blissed out! (...read 'stoned'...)

Questions like this always make my brain hurt! (maybe it's just having to get into the wayback machine)

1965 - Beatles
1967 - Sonny & Cher
1969 - Woodstock
1977 - Boston, Robin Trower
2006 - Sting and Annie Lennox

. . . and the beat goes on . . .

1) Loretta Lynn, at Kings Dominion, in Virginia. It was shortly after the movie Coal Miner's Daughter came out, circa 1980-1981. It was my first concert and we were in the nosebleed seats.

2) Lollapalooza, 1991, Lake Fairfax, Virginia. What a great line-up - Siouxsie, Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction, Ice-T, Living Colour, Butthole Surfers, and the Rollins Band. Really enjoyed Ice-T and I'm not a big fan of rap.

3) Seal. Tower Theatre, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, 1995. I love Seal, although you probably wouldn't guess it from the other music I listen to. The venue was cool and we had balcony seats. And it was my birthday, too!

4) Pigface. 9:30 Club, Washington, DC, circa 1993. I went to pretty much every industrial concert in the DC area from 1992-1994 with my ex. This one sticks out for a truly anarchic moshpit. Unless I'm confusing it with the Chemlab show...

5) Over the Rhine, earlier this month, Houston, Texas. I was so excited when they went back to using a full band with the new album, The Trumpet Child. Very jazz and blues inspired.

Sylvia: People forget how cool Jesus Jones was in concert! Saw them with Ned's Atomic Dustbin (the tour prior to the one with the Stereo MCs) - lots of fun.

Tom Petty - Last DJ tour, glad I went
Oasis - All around the world tour, Champaigne Supernova still haunts my dreams.
Dragonforce - Oct 06. *horns*
Blind Guardian - Packed on Thanksgiving 06
Therion - last october I got a front row spot!

Manowar - 2002 and 2005... Love these guys live, the cheese is just so hilarious... from the lyrics to the live performance.

Alanis Morissette - 1996... Great show, it was unbelievably packed and sold out in a matter of minutes. I was way out in the lawn... she and the band members were the size of ants, but it was certainly a lot of fun.

Fear Factory - 2001... Small venue, lots of action.. I even met Dino! :)

No Doubt - 2002... I couldn't resist going because Garbage was there too, plus back in the mid 90's I was quite fond of No Doubt but didn't get the chance to see them until this show. They had a huge amount of energy.

Def Leppard - 2005... This concert wasn't exactly at the top of my 'must see bands' list, but my boyfriend really wanted to go. Turned out to be pretty good.

Ludacris @ the city Jubilee spring of 2005

Donnie and Marie..... Hey, I was in elementary school!!!!!

Lots of rock concerts!!!!!

This question officially makes me a level 5, don't you get a new car for that?

Hank Williams Jr.....The Family Tradition Tour

Metallica....The Master Of Puppets Tour

Digital Underground (When they had Tupac Shakur)

The Rolling Stones....The Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour

The Lexington Symphony Orchestra performing Mozart.

Tough one....

1) Chicago Symphony Orchestra-'nuf said
2) Dizzy Gillespie w/college jazz band.
3) Talking Heads-mid 80's outdoor venue
4) Yes-too many times, always awesome
5) The Monkees w/Herman's Hermits. I wish everyone would stop singing along!

For jazz, I wasn't sure if I should list Dizzy or Miles Davis or Cab Calloway...All great! Cab was probably the most fun.

syvia & I could be: I saw JJ on that tour also w/Ned's Atomic Dustbin. Good show!

Great question, it's bringing out a lot of diversity. I don't know how diverse mine will be but here goes:
Neil Young early 90's All Acoustic Tour - Cincy (those years are very hazey)
Jimmy Buffet - 1987 Kings Island's Timberwolf Theater (Parrot heads out in force at all his shows)
B.B. King Blues fest - Cincy early 200? (Buddy Guy, Tab Benoit, Susan Tedeschi all on the bill)
Willie Nelson - Cincy - 200? (watched Willie stop the show to sing Happy Birthday to an elderly lady in the audience)
Page & Plant - Cincy (somewhere in the 90's)
A sixth one would be Sabbath with Megadeth last year in Cincy.
Oh and for number seven, and one I'd rather forget, I saw Jack Jones in the early 80's at the Cincy Music Hall. For those that may not know, he sang the theme from "The Love Boat". I was supposed to see Doc Severenson but he became ill and they had Jones instead. Still as I recall it wasn't a terrible show.

Buff: Everyone is in awe of Woodstock including me, but hey, you threw Sonny and Cher in the mix, and that is really cool.
