I quit smoking 8 years ago, but I was a heavy smoker (2 packs a day or more at times) for many years. I used to associate cigarettes with many things, and if I was drinking a few beers on a Friday night, my consumption would double.
But I can relate. I remember putting on an album, and before that first great tune began...I had to have my smoke lit, and be sitting comfortably on the couch. It was almost like a race, or a ritual...lol.
And if I knew that there was another great song coming up...I'd have to light up another!
I don't know why I did that either...psychological addiction?
I was the same way when something really good was about to start on TV as well.

Sometimes...you lose yourself in the songs....it's pretty cool

yea, me too sometimes, but if I'm alone (cause I'm a terrible singer) I sing to the music and that stops the over smoking.
All the time. Especially if I'm drinking or taking ADHD meds and listening to music... I kind of get lost in my own little bliss and forget that I'm chain-smoking my face off. Generally I can feel it the next day when I'm coughing up extra grossness.

I dont smoke cigs, but I always seem to want to make my own music on my guitar after smoking the alternative.
Thank God I gave it up 11 years ago...

Just remembering the stale taste of it and the smell of a full ashtray might make me puke now!!!

Boo hoo, smoking kills. Shut up! Let it kill me, and fast so I can go see Jimi up in the sky. And to answer your question, If HIM is on and I dont have a cigarette in my hand I could possibly choke a donkey. I could down a pack before the ninth song on Razorblade Romance if I had the chance.
