Bands from the last 5 years.

Well I'm inclined to agree with the first guy, however there are some good bands out there who will transcend time (black crowes, audioslave (more recent than soundgarden), fuel possibly, and jet.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd kinda had a hold of the classic rock vibe for a while....don't know if he's put anything out recently but his debut album 10 years ago is worth investing in. Report It

  • Last 5 years? That is NOT Classic by all means. Heck, 10 years isn't long enough. I would say 25-30 years then it is Classic. *NOTE* Bands like MCR and Blink 182 will never be Classic, even in 200 years from now.

I don't give a damn what the stations say, 'Classic Rock' is and always will be bands & artists who originated between 1960 {or 1964} and 1979.

to bad there is no classic bands anymore
Classic=ZZ Top and there age with the other bands

I agree with the second answer, classic rock is rock n' roll when it was at its peak, before it got processed in the 80's. However, I think stations will be playing classic alternative in a couple decades, maybe in a few years. All the grunge bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AIC, etc.), as would the early alt. bands like REM and Sonic Youth would undoubtably be played. Mid-90's bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and RHCP, and later bands like the Foo Fighters and Incubus would be in rotation. Bands like Creed, Nickelback, Matchbox 20, Simple Plan, and Blink 182 would NEVER be played on a classic station...all the aformentioned bands are the hairmetal of alternative. Classic metal stations would play Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, early Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Venom, etc., but wouldn't play anything past the early nineties, avoiding hairbands along the way.

    MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!! =D
