Are YellowCard emo?!
Question: A friend of mine told me they're emo. I like their songs but I'm not an emo and I think they're not so.
I wouldn't mind if their music was emo, I'm just curious.

i think their sorta emo, not their musical style, but i dunno, theres something about them that screams emo to me. well their definetly pop-ish.

Emo 101:
Emo started in the early 80's with bands such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, Dag Nasty, Indian Summer, etc.
The 2nd wave of emo came in the early 90's with bands like Jawbreaker, Cursive and Sunny Day Real Estate.
The third wave are the bands that are around today. I would never call these bands emo, but other people do. They're Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, The Used, etc etc.
Emo these days is usually applied to any indie, pop punk or post hardcore band. It's more to do with their lyrics, haircuts and clothing these days.
So, no Yellowcard are not emo.

no, they came before emo. if i had to label them I would say punk-pop. their music doesn't match the emo chord progression styles anyway
