You know, it all depends on the pawn shop. My friend found an '80's EVH Kramer (sold for over $1000 when new) for $250 in great shape a couple months ago. I know another guy who got a slightly scratched Gretsch White Falcon for $400. It all really depends.
Now, for your two guitar-specific questions, that depends completely on the model. Squier Strats sell for (usually) less than $300 new. At a pawn shop, they'll be even less. Even Fender Mexican Strats are fairly inexpensive. If you look hard enough, you might find a '60s Strat or a vintage Mustang. They wouldn't be nearly as expensive as if they came from a collector or a guitar-specific store. My guess is that, depending on the shop and the condition, you could probably pick up a vintage Mustang or Strat (pre-CBS era) for under $1000. The current Fender Mustang sells new for approximately $600-$700, I believe.
Again, there's no absolute, end-all answer to this question. You just have to look and hope you get lucky.
Fenders are a good shot. Mustang , Strat whatever... You can pick one up for about $150-$200 Canadian dollars.

But the Mustang would be around $200... depending on its condition..
A Strat new would be anywhere from 250 to 350...
