La Donna et Mobile - what does it mean?!

Answers: I heard it meant 'Lady's bicycle for sale' see, I do know everything haha

There are some rubbish theories about it being taken from the opera "Rigoletto" by Verdi (1851), and actually meaning "woman is fickle".

This is obviously untrue.

Number one, "woman is fickle" is far too obvious a fact for Verdi to have to point it out, and number two, the correct meaning is actually "Donna And Her Mobile Phone".

It was Donna Summer's one and only Italian hit.

Written by Joe Green.

I believe the literal translation is "The woman is fickle".

It's a famous aria from the Verdi opera "Rigoletto" (I think - it's early in the morning and I may be getting my operas mixed up.)
