Any pedal/guitar amp people out there?!

Question: Well, i just purchased a Boss DS-1 pedal for my electric a few hours ago...and i absolutely love it

i seemed to be receiving a LOT of static/feedback when i press the pedal and play
im using monster cables, so its probably not the cable

but, im playing it through a 15 watt Line6 spider 3 amp
(paid 100 bucks for it)

Is the static from my amp?
or some other source?

You're probably overloading the input stage of your amp. Reduce the gain on your amp.

If you don't hear the static or whatever when the pedal is off then suspicion confirmed.

Also reduce the volume on the pedal... you don't want it all the way up. Basically, the rule of thumb is that either you should have a mid level gain and lower volume, or a higher volume and lower gain.

You only have 15w of headroom to work with, the amp will distort easily compared to a 65w or 100w amp.

In fact, try this... turn all of your DS-1 knobs down. Maybe put Tone at 50%, I guess, but gain and volume all the way down. Put your Line 6 at a low gain... drive? Now, with your pedal on and the gain in almost the lowest setting, turn the pedal's volume up slowly, while you play. You should hear the amp start to overload more and more. Keep this characteristic in mind, and play with it. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not the sound you want.

That thing about the lights is totally true... google how to shield your guitar, it might be a solution for you.

Yeah bro its either the amp or your guitar

And if there are any flourescent lights around that makes them buzz to

You can cut down on the static a little by adjusting the EQ on your amp. Just try different settings til you take away most of the static. Especially turn the gain/distortion down

first of all check whats the voltage of your amp .......
if the voltage is less than the the voltage you recieve at your home than try fitting a stabilizer.........that will surely solve the problem!!!1

well get some gain off and boost off if u have one
