What do I think about country music today?... Well if this is what you call country music I think it all sucks. There are some exceptions like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, maybe Dwight Yoakum, Tracy Byrd & Tracy Lawrence. Overated I guess would be your Rascall Flatts, Big & Rich, Tim & Faith, Toby Keith, Taylor Swift and several others. Best of all time... Hands down The king himself..George Strait.

I love country music I am a country girl like no other. My all time favorite artist is Kenny Rogers and Carrie UnderWood. I really honestly dont believe anyone is overrated I love them all I mean all. Country music is my life.
It's horrible. Except for Steve Earle, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hank Williams III and Avett Brothers it's a load of pop crap!
I think some of it has gone down the drain. I am a big fan of the Miranda lambert right now... She does not get as much attention as she deserves.
Carrie Underwood is completely overrated! SHE SUCKS!
And my all time favorite has to be Johnny Cash....

I enjoy alot of todays music, though most of the stuff on the radio is not 'true'country.
Who is overrated would have to be Taylor Swift. She is a talented song writer with a decent voice, but I have to ask if she would have gotten as far as she has if she wasnt a very pretty blond. If she looked lik your average teenage girl would she be a popular as she is??? I don't think so.
Who sucks??? That would have to be the whole music industry. The executive that pick who gets played on the radio and videos.
The best of all time??? Dolly, Waylon, Willie, George Jones, George Straite, Lorretta Lynn, Reba, and Johnny and the best song writer of all time would be Kirs Kristofferson.
Country music today..... Well there are still some who keep the roots (Josh Turner, Alan Jackson...).... others are living on the edge.... (Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood.... )

I think Country of today, in many ways ,resembles Rock and Roll of the early and mid 1960's. I like it because it has lyrics that tell about real life situations, and the music behind it, for the most part, is not overbearing. Artists- Taylor Swift, Rodney Adkins, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Bucky Covington, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, and Toby Keith.
Best of All time- Consensus says either George Jones or Hank Williams, but my favorite is Roger Miller.
I like Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Ronnie Milsap and plenty of others.
I think the new pop country sucks!! There are some good artists out there that don't get played on the radio because they aren't going to sell out to the new nashville sound. I like dale watson, wayne hancock, hank 3...to name a few. There are some on the radio I like, George Strait and Alan Jackson. I can't stand taylor swift, she has no talent, her voice is not good. I guess the teeny boppers like her but I'm not one of them. As for the best of all time well that would be Hank Williams Sr!!
I think that its more pop flavored than traditional country. But I still like most songs and artist. I like Sugarland. Jennifer Nettles has an awesome voice and vocal range. I think that Jason Aldean is great. I think the best of all times , would have to be for male, George Strait. And for female, that would have to be Loretta Lynn. Overrated, I am not sure. Theres alot of artists that aren't getting recognition like Gary Allan......
Some of the younger artists, I don't know by name but I can tell ya that they sure as hell cant sing worth a dime. I have a friend named Darryl Lee O'Donnell that has teamed with a guy named Tommy Townsend. They are underrated big time. check them out on my space.

I am getting really tired of artists like Cowboy Troy and even Tim McGraw (I usually like his stuff but. . . ) who want to turn country into rap or hip hop, that is why I quit listening to pop and rock music because it has all turned into rap and I can't stand it. I hope there is someone else out there who feels the way I do, or I am going to stop listening to radio altogether.

I remember back when Lonestar was lead by John Rich (who is now with Big & Rich). Under Rich, Lonestar sang songs like "No News", "Come Cryin' to Me", and "Paradise Knife and Gun Club".
Country is slowly becoming more pop. Tim McGraw sang "Who Put the Pop in my Country?"...and then he did a duet with hip-hop artist Nellie.
My favorites include Gary Allan, George Strait, Clint Black...more of the Orthodox Country singers.
