Jay Z is like phonics and Nas is dope but Rakim drops real introspective material. The way he stood in front of the Manhattan skyline in the album that came out before 911 was like expecting something and even alluding to it by saying, "Let me find out you rhymed out, designed out."
On their best day all 3 are Top Shelf.
At their worst probly Rakim still sounds better.

Rakim has such a formidable personal legacy
in hip hop more then any other rapper.
When Rakim freestyled or written, it was like he put all his soul in his lyrics, you could feel the realness..
In my opinon, He’s the greatest lyricist of all time.

I would go with Rakim. Rakim is a god lyrically. I'm not too much into Jay-Z or Nas.
I'd go for Jay-Z, Nas is god but i cant understand what he is saying, I don't know much about Rakim but i don't think he would be better than Jiggaman.

Nas - Tells stories of the streets, struggle & his lyrics are from the heart of everyone in the ghetto
Jay-Z - Has good creative lyrics BUT doesn't really talk about the streets as much as he used to, now it's all about how rich he is & how popular Roc-a-fella is.
Rakim - Doesn't really sell as many records as the above BUT is an legend among EVERY HIP HOP ARTIST on EARTH! His words are SO Grimey & Street-like...it's like he eats Concrete everyday...but yet his lyrics are intelligent..it''s like he got a Master's Degree while in his mother's womb.
I choose Rakim!
Anyone that chooses Jay or Nas..haven't even listened to Rakim as much as they did Jay & Nas...and that's really sad that Hip Hop fans are missing out on an artist that been a Legend for 20 years!
Rakim is probably more talented than both of em put together.
But I think jay z makes music thats easier to listen to so Id have to pick him
Rakim's a legend, so there not much comparison. Personally I like Nas, don't really care for jay-z.
