What Do you think about greatest hits cds?!

Question: some bands have released greatest hits cds only a few albums into their career. records labels have released greatest hits cds and the band have had nothing to do with like the libertines greatest hits pete doherty was being interviewed and he said he knew nothing about it. if i was in a band i would wait till i had stopped making music with the band. I would not make fans pay for the cd i would give it away in shops for free and i would go to every shop possible and sign autographs and stuff to thank the fans for being fans of us.

Honestly i think they have ups and downs, like you said, some bands put out a greatest hits album only after they have made very few, but the upside of it is that suckers in the world love greatest hit albums so if they buy that and think that its good music they most likely will the buy the others

i think theyre worth getting if you only like the hit songs by a band (eg girls aloud - no im not joking lol) but usually i wouldnt bother cos id rather hear the songs as part of the album they were on

songs on a good album are a bit like chapters of a good book.

i think that greatest hit cds are just ways for bands to make more money off of already recorded songs.
the good bands dont release that stuff again and again. :D

They dont make much money giving away free stuff

madonna.

its a classic that was popular 20 years ago and still sells well today.

jackson again another greatest hits album. to pay for his zoo.

OK , esp if you want to sample the band. Some like Rolled Gold by The Rolling Stones are absolutely five star while others are just cash ins.

I think on the whole, they're a good idea - as everyone else has said, they're a good introduction to the band and so on. The Libertines' one is a bit ridiculous though; they had two albums! TWO! Each of which you can buy for a fiver. Or you can spend £10 on the greatest hits, which doesn't have all the tracks on...c'mon. It just shouts 'flogging a dead horse'...
