What do you think metal is? It's essentially heavy punk. The early thrash bands were influenced by bands the Ramones and the Misfits. If your talking about metal vs poser punk then I will take metal. I like metal and actual punk not poser stuff. Paul, FOB is not punk and Korn is not metal.

Was hugely into both years ago, with a preference for metal back in my high school and college days. Now I prefer punk, however- particularly bands such as the Dead Kennedys, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, early Stooges (Iggy Pop's band), X, etc. I still enjoy metal on occasion however.

If we're talking about the originals, I'd easily go with punk, but nowadays, it's nearly impossible to find any real punk bands. Metal isn't bad though.
FOB, P!ATD, MCR, etc. is NOT PUNK. People who say they are, are the reason I left this section a while ago. I can see it hasn't changed much...
