it is entirely dependent on your taste in techno. most people don`t realise that there is a huge variety of genres that come under "techno" techno itself meaning anything that usings electronically enhanced sounds. this itself denotes that all modern music is a form of techno.
Commonly known genres for "techno" would be House, trance, happy hardcore, psy-trance, progressive (or prog), synthpop, synthtron there are a crapload more genres however i won`t go into them quite frankly even though i have gone ahead and seperated them i don`t believe in seperating them although it does help in identification and each genre does have it`s distinct sounds.
I don`t know much about house because i am personally not a big fan of it, that said if you go into a standard night club it is most likely to play this or hip hop. Just look up House Music and you`ll find plenty of stuff.
trance, well paul van dyke and scooter are probably the most famous of this section. though i think scooter crosses over into happy hardcore a bit.
psy trance is of course my favourite and i can recommend a crapload in this field. though it really depends on where you live as to what you can get access to. the easiest to get hold of would of course be the big names like Hallucigen, shpongle, younger brother, haltya, talamasca, infected mushroom, rinkadink, OTT, 1200 mics. If you wish a foray into this genre these are probably the best bet as they are easy to get hold of and are of high quality. As a side note all these groups have myspace pages so if you want to hear a sample then go to myspace and type in the name.
as to synthpop well that is 80s synth music. well worth a foray down memory lane.
synthtron is synthpops evolutionary path. a good example of it is ladytron. this genre mainly covers lyrical "techno". daft punk is also a good example of this genre. Personally i quite like Ladytron and would recommend it for something to listen to around the home while you are chilling.
oh chill is also a good genre. although i realise you are asking for dance. Shpongle though i put it under psy is probably best described as chill.

well i dont know if you would like this but there is this band called The Birthday Massacre they are a tachno/gothic rock band im not sure if ur looking for that or just regular techno. If this doesnt help then sorry.
