While you're waiting for his drop from popularity, check out the Travis Barker and Crank Dat Calvary Boy remixes. Much better than the original.
His seemingly sudden popularity will be his downfall; over-exposure.
honestly, no idea. his dance is disgusting and if i ever saw someone ddoing that in the street i would hit them. and yet everyone seems to love him and his dance =/
Really, it's just because of the TYPE of music he's recording and the fact that they're really catchy. Hip-Hop has turned into club music and Soulja Boy created a song that he knew would be pointless, with a strong background beat and simple lyrics so everyone could learn the song so quickly.
I'm not too sure if he's going away anytime soon though. It's like Lil Mama and the song "Lipgloss". As long as Hip-Hop is still considered club music, artist like this will still be around.
Remember when Hip-Hop used be considered poetry with a beat? When artist actually had something to say? <sigh>

Because of the computer. Kids absolutely live on computers. Soulja Boy has been putting songs online for atleast a year and a half. He is the first of many to go big from the computer. The only reason he seems sooooo huge to the older crowd, is because he is finally getting radio play. Also, every song has a corrisponding dance. Every song that has a dance with it in the last 30 years...has gone huge!! YMCA, electric slide, macarena...all of them. His music is awful, but its everything us kids want...dance, heavy and simple beat, a little bit of rapping...and the words are easy to remember...well he came, cranked it, and now he is just another one on the wall of one hit wonders. I promise you, there are going to be thousands of people like him in the upcoming years. This generation has gotten ripped off with music. What ever happened to the days that music had depth? All it is now is paper music. The Flash, DMC, even Fat Boys and Beastie Boys...music is all down hill from here, in every genre. Even TV...hannah montana will be gone in a year.
